- A desperate mission brings Leona Montgomery from China to London to get some business contacts and dig into the illegal opium trade that her deceased father had been investigating. She comes face-to-face with Christian, Marquess of Easterbrook, a man she was in love with in China who proved himself to be a scoundrel. The self-styled recluse with tortured emotions, whom she hasn't seen in seven years, begins pestering her.
